Telling a sustainable story

The green finance agenda is gaining traction

Public awareness of sustainability issues is growing thanks to recent media coverage and stories about sustainable innovation, green finance and the Year of Sustainable Business 2018.

The green finance agenda was the focus of stories in January and February in the Sunday Independent, Irish Independent, Irish Times and Council Review, the magazine for local authorities and local officials.

Sustainable Nation’s Director of Sustainable Finance Laura Heuston was featured in Irish Times and Irish Independent coverage of the Central Bank equities management contract awarded to Amundi.

“This is a tremendous boost to the mainstreaming of the responsible investment agenda within Ireland, ” Laura said.

CEO Stephen Nolan last month told the Sunday Independent about the Year of Sustainable Business and its mission to build on, and spread word about, the green finance agenda across Irish business.

Sustainable Nation’s agenda was also the subject of a feature in the latest issue of Council Review, with a focus on sustainable activities being undertaken by local authorities across Ireland.

The organisation was called upon last week for news reaction to the Government’s Project Ireland 2040 launch which included a €500m Climate Action Fund. Sustainable Nation commentary was picked up by the Irish Independent, Irish Examiner, independent radio stations and London based Environmental Finance.
