Mobilising private sector investment – infrastructure & innovation – between the EU and Canada
October 18, 2017 @ 7:30 am - 9:30 am
Globally $90 trillion by 2030 is required for decarbonization, while in Ireland €40 billion by 2050 is required. Countries such as Canada and Ireland are turning climate-risk in to an opportunity. Our esteemed panel of speakers will discuss the how global policies have stimulated investment in new infrastructure and innovation required to support the global transition to a low-carbon economy. It will examine how our countries are responding to global drivers, and in doing so creating centres of green finance and stimulating new market places for cleantech goods and services.
Join us for a panel discussion – led by the Hon. Catherine McKenna, Canada’s Environment Minister – on how Canada and Ireland can “Mobilise private sector investment in infrastructure and innovation to transition to a low-carbon economy.”
The panel also includes Ruth Kent, CFO of Brookfield Renewables – a Canadian Renewables Fund – managing just under €1BN of European renewable energy assets from Cork. As manager of Climate-KIC operations in Ireland, Sustainable Nation is also delighted to welcome Tom Mitchell, Climate-KIC Director UK & Ireland. Climate-KIC is Europe’s largest climate-innovation initiative, investing up to €80M per annum innovation activities.
This Leadership Series is supported by Sustainability Skillnet, a national network aimed at developing leadership capacity and staff competencies to support sustainable business growth and practices in Ireland, and McCann Fitzgerald.
