IORP II and ESG: Is Your Pension Fund Ready?
January 11, 2018 @ 7:30 am - 9:30 am
Co-hosted by the Sustainable & Responsible Investment Forum (SIF) Ireland, the CFA Society Ireland, and the Irish Association of Pension Funds (IAPF), this event should be of relevance for all Irish pension funds that fall within scope of IORP II and their advisers.
Risk relating to Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) factors is firmly on the agenda in the revised EU Directive on Pensions (IORP II). There are a number of ESG-related clauses in the Directive, that can be broadly summarised as requiring occupational pension providers to evaluate ESG risks and disclose information to current and prospective scheme members. The deadline for the adoption of the Directive into Irish law is January 2019 and therefore pension funds, fund managers and investment consultants are currently grappling with how to incorporate these new requirements into their governance and risk management systems, what they will include in their Statement of Investment Policy Principles and how they will communicate their investment approach with regard to ESG to their members.
During the panel discussion, we will hear from leading stakeholders who have practical experience with regard to how to approach these new requirements.
