Sustainable Nation Ireland was delighted with the announcement, on Sustainable Finance Day 2019, that AIB will be the principal private sector sponsor of Ireland’s second Climate Finance Week in November.
AIB’s CEO Colin Hunt and Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe, made the announcement, with Mr Donohoe acknowledging that meeting the challenge of climate change requires multiple partners across Government, industry, and further afield to work together. “AIB’s important and timely sponsorship of Climate Finance Week is to be welcomed and I look forward to the collaborative approach that Climate Finance Week takes bearing fruit across the period to come.”
Colin Hunt, Chief Executive Officer of AIB, said it was important for the bank to be a responsible corporate citizen. “One area where we can do this is through supporting Ireland’s programme to address climate change, helping to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy. To do this we need to integrate climate change impact considerations across all our decision-making, which is why we’re delighted to announce our sponsorship of Climate Finance Week Ireland 2019.”
Climate Finance Week will focus on sustainable finance and responsible investment as well as Ireland’s drive to a carbon-neutral economy in a series of events taking place across Ireland between November 4th and 8th.
The annual AIB Sustainability Conference in Dublin will be a highlight of the week, which will also include inspirational talks and workshops in the presence of senior domestic and international corporate leaders, financiers and key policy makers.
“I am thrilled to welcome AIB as principal sponsor of Climate Finance Week Ireland 2019. Climate change is the defining issue of our time and the scale of the challenge is considerable,” Stephen Nolan, chairman of Climate Finance Week Ireland, said.
